KWedge is a PC software used by government organizations and businesses to transmit data securely from a barcode scanner to a business application on the PC. In secure environments where wireless data transmission is not permitted, KWedge can be a solution for PCs to securely retrieve data from a mobile barcode scanner and transmit the data to a target application on the PC including Maximo, VistA, Excel and more.

Q. Why can I not download KWedge from the MSS Software website?
A. There are many security measures put in place at every VA site. If you are unable to download from the website, you can also find the file stored on the scanner themselves. Please view the Installation Guide – KWedge for Android to see how to do that.
Q. Is KWedge or the VistA scanner approved for use at VA Hospitals?
A. Yes, search TRM for KWedge for Android to find the approval.
Q. How can I verify KWedge 7.0 is installed correctly and what is the current version?
A. Verify the correct version of KWedge is being used by launching KWedge, go to View, choose About KWedge… and verify the about screen says “KWedge 7.0-for Android ver. 5.” If using an earlier version than 5, an update is required.
